Artists Stop #23 on the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is Monta May at 854 W. 5th Street, Winona.  Monta creates gorgeous mosaics, sculptures in concrete, wood and steel and many other medias.  Throughout the tour weekend, Monta will be demonstrating mosaic work and concrete sculpture as well as cutting stone and slab glass with a hammer and hardie.

Artists Stop #20 of the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is Julia Croziers at Blue Heron Gallery & Studio (168 E. 3rd Street, Winona, MN).  Julia creates gorgeous oil pastels, oil paintings and linoleum cuts.  In the gallery you will find a wide variety of stained glass, jewelry, pottery, sculpture and metalwork.

Artists Stop #14 of 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is Joel Sampson of Copper Crane Pottery (27972 Deep River Rd, Lanesboro).  In his studio near the scenic Root River, Joel combines his love of clay and water to create wheel thrown fountains, functional ware and flower containers.

During the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour, Paul Corbin can be found at the Lanesboro Community Center.  Paul creates high fired white stoneware pottery fired in a gas kiln in reduction.

Artists Stop #12 on the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is Mariella Terbeest-Schladweiler of Helen's Daughters.  Mariella is hosted at the Lanesboro Community Center (202 Parkway S, Lanesboro) with several other artists.  She creates gorgeous colorful upholstery fabric purses embellished with buttons, beads and tassels.

Artists Stop #11 of the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is where you will find Karen Haas Misseldine.  Karen and her gorgeous pottery are hosted at the Lanesboro Community Center (202 Parkway Ave S., Lanesboro). Her functional wheel thrown forms and decorative pieces feature organic shapes inspired by nature.

Cheryl Lamon at the Lanesboro Community Center

During the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour, Fiber Artist Cheryl Lamon of Cheryl's Fabric Garden will be joining several other artists hosted at the Lanesboro Community Center.  Cheryl creates functional and decorative fabric items from quality, colorful fabrics.

Artists Stop #10 on the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is Anna Loney of Loney Metal Works.  Anna and several other Bluff Country artists will be displaying at the Lanesboro Community Center (202 Parkway S, Lanesboro, MN) .  

 
This Lanesboro artist is a designer and fabricator of metal wares for fun, function, comfort and beauty.  Stop in at the Lanesboro Community Center to check out her gorgeous metal works. 

Artists Stop #9 - Joni Finnegan

Artists Stop #9 on the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is Joan Finnegan. Joni and her gorgeous paintings can be found at 34617 County Road 12 near Lanesboro, Minnesota.  Her paintings of nature reflect the softer side of the outdoor world bringing beauty, peace, and tranquility inviting the viewer to step into her art.

Throughout the tour weekend, Joni will be demonstrating oil painting at her home studio.  Stop in, visit with Joni, see all her beautiful paintings and how she creates them.  

Artists Stop #8 - Sue Pariseau

Artists Stop #8 on the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is where you will find Sue Pariseau Pottery.  Sue's functional stoneware can be  found at 40051 County Rd 12, Lanesboro, Minnesota.   Her work  features a diverse palette ranging from beautiful earthy wood fired pieces to brightly colored oxidation pieces and many shades in between.

Saturday evening (April 28th) from 5pm to 8pm Sue will be hosting a Kiln Opening party to unload her bourry box wood-fired kiln. For those who have seen or will see the kiln firing at Allamakee Wood-fired Pottery, this is a nice follow-up event to see the unloading of a kiln.  Plus, you'll have the first opportunity to buy pots fresh out of the kiln.

Don't miss this activity packed tour stop, the kiln opening party or the opportunity to grab fresh pots just out of the kiln. 

Artists Stop #7 - Bluff Country Artists Gallery

Artists Stop #7 of the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is Bluff Country Artists Gallery.  Showcasing the works of more than 50 talented artists of the bluff country region the gallery can be found at 111 West Main, Spring Grove, Minnesota.  The juried fine art featured at the gallery provides a diverse art experience.

Artist Stop #6 - Vicky Kurk

Artists Stop #6 of the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour is Vicky Kurk of Clover Hill Studio. You can find Vicky at 13604 Duck Creek Drive, Spring Grove, Minnesota.  Vicky creates gorgeous, colorful leaded stained glass pieces with fired paint accents and details.

Artist Stop #5 - Jill & Michael Stephenson

At Artist Stop #5 , you'll find a couple of the Bluff Country Studio Art Tour's founding artists, Jill and Michael Stephenson of Waterloo Workshop (369 Waterloo Creek Dr, Dorchester, Iowa).  Visit the couple's non-electric log cabin home/workshop to see their handwoven functional reed baskets, wooden furniture, treenware and wood chip carvings.  

Artists Stop #3 and #4 - Allamakee Wood-Fired Potter and Red Hawk Glassworks

Artist stops #3 and #4 (2856 Blair Rd, New Albin, IA) of this years tour is where you will find the very talented Nate and Hallie Evans.  Together they operate Allamakee Wood-Fired Pottery creating beautiful functional wood-fired stoneware.  Friday and Saturday during the tour, Nate and Hallie will be firing their kiln so visitors can see how their pottery is made and fired.  Saturday when the kiln is nearing it's top temperature is a fascinating sight if you've never seen a wood-fired kiln in action.  

In addition to being a very talented potter, Nate Evans operates Red Hawk Glassworks where he creates stunning fused and slumped glass pieces with sandblasted surface decoration.

And if the opportunity to see their gorgeous art and their amazing kiln in action isn't enough, Nate and Hallie will be serving homemade soup and bread from noon until close each day.  Stop in, visit, browse, learn about their processes and eat well. 

Artist Stop #2 - Darla Ellickson

At Bluff Country Studio Art Tour stop #2 (3175 Middle Sattre Rd, Decorah, Iowa) is where you'll find Darla Ellickson.  Darla makes Earloops (no hole earrings) and stunning custom silver and 14 kt gold jewelry.

Artists Stop #1 - George Lowe & Martha Monson Lowe

The artists of SE Minnesota and NE Iowa's Bluff Country are getting ready for the 2012 Bluff Country Studio Art Tour.  Over the next few months, we'll give you a little introduction  to some of the fabulous artists participating this year and a little taste of the things you will see as you visit their studios, galleries and group displays.


Artist Stop #1 (1546 Salem Lane Rd, Decorah, Iowa) is where you'll find George Lowe and Martha Monson Lowe. 

George creates gorgeous wheel-thrown functional stoneware and Martha's woven rattan baskets are reminiscent of ancient vessels emphasizing form and texture.
